A pint of Sam is yer only man - or at least it might well be very soon. A pint-sized brewery is set to take on Guinness with the launch of a new ale called Beckett's, called after the Irish writer Samuel Beckett.
The new brewery is the brain-child of 34-year-old Kieran Finnerty from Roscommon. And he is setting it up within a stones throw of the world famous brewery at St. James Gate in Dublin. Already locals in the Smithfield area of Dublin, where the brewery (is) located have applauded the audacity of Ireland's newest drinks company.
"Grand" One man who tasted the brew said: "I'm not a drinker myself. But I'm after having eight pints of that and it went down grand." And the Dublin Brewing Company aims to be selling the new beer to 10 per cent of all Dublin pubs by the end of this year. "Guinness is treating us like a joke at the moment," said owner Kieran Finnerty. "They think we're going to come and go in two years. But we've got other ideas," he said.
